4 Reasons Your School Needs More Signage

How many times have you been in the following scenario? You’re a fan of the visiting team and you, or one of your children, have the sudden need to use the restroom, and you need to get there quickly. The problem is, you have no idea where it’s at and there’s not enough signage to point you in the right direction. Frustrating, isn’t it? The truth is, we’ve all been there.

When was the last time you took a serious look at your facilities’ signage and addressed those types of deficiencies? More than likely, signage is one of those areas that often gets put on the backburner or on the bottom of the list of things that need to get done. But with tightening school budgets, signage is an effective, inexpensive way to help make your school a more user-friendly place for students, faculty, and visitors alike. Here are 4 reasons your school needs more signage:

  1. Safety: Do people know where all of your exits are? How about the best flow of traffic for your parking lot to prevent fender-benders?
  2. Branding/Decoration: Incorporate your logo onto signage for greater visual impact and to give your signage that personal touch. Make signs with only your logo and put them in high-visibility places like cafeterias, gymnasiums, and main offices.
  3. Hospitality: Set your facility apart for prospective students and parents by having adequate and high-quality signage. Make your facility a place the visiting fans are impressed with.
  4. Policy: Do students and visitors know your institution’s policy regarding tobacco and e-cigarettes? Federal statistics note a rise in the use of e-cigarettes among high school students from 13% to 16% in the last year. There’s no better way to promote your district’s policies than proper signage.
