At IPI’s showroom in Des Moines, it’s a bit of a tradition to wear jeans on Fridays and add $2 to the donation jar. Last week, the showroom staff cashed out the collected donation funds and purchased $500 worth of toys, which they then delivered to the Des Moines Toys for Tots distribution warehouse Friday.
Toy distributions began on December 1st, and the local center has already delivered over 20,000 toys to children in the Des Moines area who applied for the program. The Marines hope to distribute all the gifts by December 15th, though the campaign officially ends December 23rd, just in time for the holiday.
The Toys for Tots program, established by the United States Marine Corps in 1948, accepts toy donations for children ages 0-14 years old. Multiple toy drop-off locations are scattered throughout the Des Moines area and can be found on the local Toys for Tots website.
For those wishing to participate in the program aside from gift or monetary donations, the local distribution center welcomes volunteers to help fill orders at the warehouse, transport and store gifts, prepare meals and much more!
The Toys for Tots program will be accepting donations through December 15th, so there’s still time to donate.
